Why We Charge an Air Freight Fee on Custom Orders

Custom orders ship by air rather than in our regular ocean containers. Here's why that fee exists and when it applies.

Speed

Our standard products travel by ocean container. Containers add 4–5 weeks to the lead time on their own, and product also has to wait until it's assigned to a container — which can push the timeline out further. Air freight removes that wait so your custom units arrive as quickly as possible.

Handling

Because every custom order is built to your specifications, each one is assigned its own individual shipment. This is how we guarantee your units go to you and not into general inventory.

Orders of 7 units or more

If you'd prefer to avoid the air freight fee, contact us and we can arrange ocean freight instead. Expect a lead time of approximately 16–18 weeks.

Orders under 7 units

Air freight is mandatory. Consolidating small custom orders into containers isn't practical, so this option isn't available.

How the fee is calculated

Rates are based on the volumetric weight of your shipment and reflect what we're charged by the airlines and carriers directly. We don't mark this up. Because carrier rates fluctuate, the fee may change from time to time based on prevailing rates at the time of your order, but will never exceed the amount shown to you on the product page.
