Cable Management Solutions Overview

Standing desks require more cable planning than static desks because cables must move with the desk. Here's a rundown of every cable management solution Progressive Desk offers and when to use each.

Solutions at a Glance

Solution What It Does Best For
Cable Spine Vertical channel along the leg column that contains cables as the desk moves Routing cables from desk to floor neatly
Cable Tray Under-desk mesh or plastic tray that holds cables on the underside of the tabletop Hiding power bars and bundled cables off the floor
Cable Clips Adhesive or screw-mount clips that hold cables against the frame or tabletop edge Routing individual cables along a clean path
Cable Sleeve Split mesh sleeve that bundles multiple cables into a single tube Combining monitor, power, and USB cables into one run
Raceway Kit Plastic channel that mounts to the wall or desk leg and hides cables inside When cables must run along a wall or exposed surface

Recommended Strategy

  1. Bundle at the source:velcro-strap all monitor and device cables together where they leave the tabletop surface
  2. Tray under desk:route bundled cables into a cable tray mounted under the tabletop — keeps the floor clear
  3. Spine down the leg:from the tray, route cables down the back frame leg using the cable spine or adhesive clips
  4. Power bar on frame:plug desk cables into an under-frame power bar; only one cable runs to the wall outlet
  5. Floor slack loop:leave a 12–15″ loop of cable at the base of the leg to accommodate the full height travel range

💡 Wireless peripherals help enormously. A wireless keyboard, mouse, and webcam eliminate 3–4 cables from the top of your desk. If you're doing a clean setup, prioritize wireless peripherals first before buying cable management accessories.
