How Do I Pair a Remote Control to a PA Control Box?
PA offers several wireless remote options including the RC-03 hand pendant, AC-RC3 wireless remote, and the RT-11 smart remote with memory presets. Pairing procedures vary by model — this article covers all three.
RC-03 Wired Pendant
The RC-03 is a wired hand pendant — no pairing is required. Simply plug the 4-pin connector into the hand-pendant port on your control box (PA-20, PA-22, or PA-24). The rocker switch up/down corresponds to extend/retract.
AC-RC3 Wireless Remote
1. Enter pairing mode on the receiver
Power on the control box. Press and hold the LEARN button on the receiver module (usually on the back of the box) for 3 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly.
2. Transmit from the remote
Press and hold the UP button on the AC-RC3 remote for 2 seconds. The receiver LED will change from rapid flashing to a steady slow blink to confirm pairing.
3. Test operation
Press UP briefly — the actuator should extend. Press DOWN — the actuator should retract. If it works in the wrong direction, swap the two actuator motor wires at the control box output terminal.
Range tip The AC-RC3 has a typical range of 30–50 ft in open space. Concrete or metal walls significantly reduce range. If using in a metal enclosure, route the receiver antenna outside the cabinet.
RT-11 Smart Remote with Memory Presets
The RT-11 features four programmable memory positions and an LED display showing current position (when used with a feedback actuator).
1. Pair to receiver
Follow the same LEARN button procedure as the AC-RC3 above. The RT-11 uses the same 433 MHz protocol as most PA wireless systems.
2. Set memory position
Drive the actuator to the desired position. Press and hold the M1 (or M2/M3/M4) button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes twice. The position is saved.
3. Recall memory position
Press the memory button briefly. The actuator will drive to the saved position and stop automatically. This requires a feedback actuator (potentiometer or Hall effect) — it will not work with a non-feedback actuator.
