How Do I Set the Adjustable Limit Switches on the PA-17?
The PA-17 Heavy Duty Linear Actuator features external adjustable limit switches that let you set custom stop positions anywhere within the stroke — without cutting the stroke short at the factory level.
PA-17 Limit Switch Overview
Unlike standard PA actuators where internal limit switches auto-stop only at the mechanical end of travel, the PA-17 has two externally adjustable cam-operated limit switches. These let you define a custom extend stop and a custom retract stop anywhere within the 2–24" stroke range.
No limit switches on strokes over 24" PA-17 units with stroke lengths greater than 24" do not include adjustable limit switches. For these units, position control requires an external feedback solution such as a separate limit switch mounted to the application structure.
Adjusting the Limit Switch Positions
1. Identify the limit switch body
2. Loosen the set screw
3. Drive to desired stop position
4. Slide the switch to the cam
5. Test and fine-tune
Controller Requirement
The PA-17 draws up to 20 A under full load. Its adjustable limit switches require a controller rated for at least 20 A. PA recommends the PA-20 20A Control Box for PA-17 applications. Do not use a standard 5 A control box — it will overheat and may be permanently damaged.
