What Does the Error Light or LED Indicator on My Control Box Mean?
PA control boxes use LED indicators to communicate status and fault conditions. LED patterns vary by model — this article covers the most common codes for the PA-20, PA-22, PA-24, and FLTCON series.
PA-20 / PA-22 / PA-24 LED Codes
| LED Colour / Pattern | Meaning | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Green steady | Powered and ready | Normal — no action needed |
| Green flashing | Motor running | Normal during motion |
| Red steady | Overcurrent / overload protection tripped | Remove load, allow to cool, check rated load vs actual load |
| Red flashing (slow) | Thermal protection tripped | Power off for 10–15 min, ensure ambient temperature is within spec |
| Red flashing (fast) | Short circuit detected on output | Check actuator wiring for bare wires touching; inspect actuator motor for internal short |
| No LED | No power to control box | Check input power, inline fuse, and power supply output voltage |
FLTCON Series LED Codes
| LED Pattern | Meaning | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Blue steady | Powered, no motion commanded | Normal standby |
| Blue flashing | Motor running, Hall feedback active | Normal during motion |
| Red (one channel) | Feedback signal lost on that channel | Check Hall effect sensor wiring; verify actuator is a PA-04-HS or custom Hall effect model |
| Red alternating channels | Synchronisation error — channels too far apart | Stop, manually re-home both actuators to the same position, then restart |
| Orange / amber | Input voltage outside operating range | Verify AC mains voltage; check for voltage drop on extension cord |
💡 Model-specific codes Always cross-reference with your specific model's user manual, available on the PA Resources page. LED code meanings can vary between hardware revisions.
