Which Desk Frame Is Compatible with My Tabletop Size and Thickness?
Before buying a frame and tabletop separately — or using a third-party desktop — verify the frame width range, minimum tabletop width, and mounting thickness requirements. Mismatches are the most common cause of returns.
Frame Width Range vs Tabletop Width
Each frame has a crossbeam that adjusts to a range of widths. Your tabletop must be at least as wide as the frame's maximum extended width so both mounting endpoints reach the tabletop. It also must not be so wide that the overhang becomes structurally unsafe.
| Frame Model | Frame Width Range | Min Tabletop Width | Max Recommended Top Width |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mini Ryzer | ~28″ – 38″ | 42″ | 48″ |
| Solo Ryzer | ~42″ – 72″ | 48″ | 80″ |
| Prime Ryzer | ~42″ – 72″ | 48″ | 80″ |
| Corner Ryzer | Per frame: ~42″ – 72″ | 48″ per surface | 80″ per surface |
⚠️ Always verify against the product spec sheet. Frame width ranges can vary slightly by production run. Check the spec sheet for your exact model before purchasing a third-party tabletop.
Tabletop Thickness Requirements
The frame mounting brackets are designed for tabletops between 1″ and 1.5″ thick (25mm – 38mm). Tabletops outside this range may not mount securely:
- Too thin (<1″):mounting screws may not bite properly; risk of pull-through under load
- Too thick (>1.5″):bracket may not close fully against the underside; uneven contact and wobble
💡 Using a solid wood top? Solid wood tabletops are typically 1.5″ thick — right at the upper limit. Confirm the bracket arm length accommodates this before mounting.
Tabletop Depth
Depth (front-to-back measurement) doesn't affect frame mounting directly, but it affects usability. Progressive Desk recommends a minimum depth of 24″ for comfortable monitor placement. Depths below 20″ can cause the monitor to sit too close to the user.
